WHAT DO WE LOVE ABOUT NORTHERN DELAWARE?

The legacy of the DuPont family still lends a refined air to the rolling hills of Northern Delaware, where museums and gardens are clustered in and around the scenic Brandywine Valley. History and culture is celebrated and preserved. With various parks, a University and beaches, a variety of entertainment and outdoor activities are always available. Tucked closely to Maryland and Pennsylvania, this state enjoys easy access to Philadelphia and Baltimore.

CENTREVILLE

As you ramble down Rte 52 from the PA state line, you will pass DE Natural History Museum, Winterthur Museum and arrive in this charming town. With eateries and specialty boutiques, this town is a delight.

HOCKESSIN

Just across the PA/DE state line, this quaint town is home to eateries and fine shopping. A nod to the surrounding farmland, equestrian tack shops are found here!

NEW CASTLE

Historic New Castle has always been a key part of Delaware’s past – and in many ways, that past has never left. The cobblestone streets and stately townhomes of this riverside city combine to create a Colonial charm that invites visitors to stroll and shop, or possibly stop for lunch before exploring First State National Historic Park. Cozy and intimate, New Castle still can deliver a whole weekend’s worth of things to do, especially during special events such as a Day in Old New Castle (May), or Separation Day (June).

WILMINGTON

Wilmington is the cultural capital of Delaware, the place where travelers can find that all-in-one mix of music, dining, museums and entertainment venues like The Grand and The Queen. The Wilmington Waterfront is a popular spot to stroll.

NEWARK

Newark is a town meant for exploring. Stroll down Main Street and do some shopping, dining and people-watching. Wander the University of Delaware campus and enjoy its ivy-covered ambiance. Head out to Newark’s nearby attractions – Christiana Mall, White Clay Creek State Park – and discover why Delaware’s most picturesque and active college town has so many things to do.
